Phillips Auctions ‘godfather’ Marlon Brando’s Rolex Watch, Luxury Watches Fake

On December 10, 2019, Phillips held the “GAME CHANGERS” themed auction in New York. This auction presented a Rolex Ref. 1675 Greenwich watch that once belonged to Oscar winner Marlon Brando. Marlon Brando wore it in “Apocalypse Now,” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and released in August 1979. In addition to the image on the screen, Phillips also revealed for the first time an unknown side, decorated with a case back signed by “M. Brando” engraved by Brando himself.

The watch remained in Brando’s hands until 1995 when he gave it to his daughter Petra Brando. The Phillips New York auction in December this year was the first time this watch was publicly unveiled and auctioned since Brando purchased it in the early 1970s.

“Apocalypse Now” is one of the greatest works in film history, and Brando relied on his superb acting skills to create the most iconic character, Walter Kurtz. During the Vietnam War, Walter Kurtz fell into madness. He broke away from the US military and formed his armed forces in Cambodia. Brando wore this Rolex Ref. 1675 GMT-Master watch in the movie. This watch was produced in 1972 with a black strap and a missing bezel. Luxury watches fake.

Brando told his daughter Petra that during the filming of “Apocalypse Now” in the Philippines, the crew asked him to take off his watch to avoid stealing the spotlight. Brando replied, “If what the audience sees is this watch, then I have not done my job as an actor.” Ultimately, the crew agreed to let Brando wear the watch for filming, but Brando removed the watch. Circle, which has contributed to the close connection between this unique-looking watch and the classic screen image of Colonel Kurtz.

In 1994, Petra graduated from Brown University. Brando wrote a letter to Petra expressing his pride in his daughter’s achievements. He said, “This watch is like a tank. You can dispose of it as you wish, and it will continue to run. I hope this watch can always remind you that I am proud of you.” In 2003, Petra was newly married. That night, I gave this watch to my husband, Russel Fischer. The latter realized the importance of the watch and kept it forever, never wearing it. Replica watches for sale.

The Rolex Ref. 1675 GMT-Master watch sent for auction is the same as when Petra first received it, with a rubber strap and missing bezel. The watch is exceptionally well preserved, retaining the chamfers, curves, and sharp edges that it had when it left the factory 50 years ago. The fluorescent hour markers and hands have aged to a beautiful beige over time, and the dial, hands, case, mirror, and crown are all original.

By entrusting Phillips to auction this watch, Petra and Russel hope the public will remember Brando’s immense contribution to cinema and celebrate his legacy. Petra said, “Russel and I believe that this watch is an important piece of film history and should belong to a collector who can give it the distinguished status it deserves.” Part of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the charitable foundation founded by Petra and Russel to assist children who are experiencing severe hardship due to abuse, neglect, poverty, or disability because Petra believed this was so important to her father.
